PRINCE2® was developed by the UK government to manage its projects and is now part of the PeopleCert PPM portfolio. PRINCE2 is the most successful project management method in the world – it has become a de facto standard in both the private and public sectors. It provides common processes, management products roles and language for use throughout all an organisation's projects. PRINCE was first published in 1990 with a focus on IT projects. It was revised for general project management and released as PRINCE2 in 1996 and significantly updated in the 2009 and again in 2017 (current) edition with defined sets of principles, themes, processes and tailoring. As of the 1st January 2020, AXELOS and PeopleCert now refer to the current 2017 edition as PRINCE2 6th Edition and PRINCE2 2009 as PRINCE2 5th Edition.
The course is suitable for:
There are no official pre-requisites for the foundation course, noting any exposure to project management is beneficial. A pass in the foundation level is required to sit the practitioner level exam. Please note that AXELOS will recognize the prior learning and achievements of individuals within the Project Management Professional community, who want to gain this Practitioner qualification who do not have the official PRINCE2 Foundation 5th edition or 6th edition certificate. Candidates who wish to have their prior certification recognized must be able to provide documentary proof that their qualification remains current. Recognition is given for various qualifications from PMI and IPMA. Please ask us for more detail.
PRINCE2 Foundation Level - 3 day - The Foundation course is ideal for those who are not knee-deep in daily project activities but need to converse with those who are or review project documentation or statuses. Those who are likely to attend a foundation course are project administrators, senior level management or project managers starting out in project management or planning to continue to practitioner at a later date.
PRINCE2 Practitioner Level - 2 day - The Practitioner is a Project Manager level certification, with more than 500,000 certified practitioners not having a PRINCE2 practitioner certificate could put you at a disadvantage when applying for project management jobs in some sectors. At the very least it could put you ahead of the pack! It is only an extra two days on top of the foundation level. CC Learning recommends that if you plan on doing your foundation and practitioner exams you should do it in the same week.
There are no new materials presented in these 2 days, it is all about using the scenario based practice exams to focus on application of the framework learned in the foundation level.
PRINCE2 Conversion/Re-registration - 3 day - Who is this course for:
The 2017 Practitioner registration is valid for 3 years. PRINCE2 Membership is not compulsory, noting the first year is complimentary from AXELOS, but you need to join within 3 months of sitting the exam and work on the Digital badge over the 3 years, and if you achieve the CPD points each year and pay your annual membership, your registration is automatically extended. Alternatively you don't have to join and can sit the Practitioner exam again in 3 years to renew your Practitioner certification.
Training runs for 3 consecutive full days and is generally run in conjunction with a Foundation and Practitioner course; you attend the third (last) day of the three day Foundation level and the two days of the Practitioner level immediately following.
