This course covers the processes and principles of the AXELOS Programme Management (MSP) for Programme Managers or a member of a Programme Support Office. This course includes training for the Foundation and Practitioner exams.


The purpose of the foundation level is to confirm you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the MSP guidance to interact effectively with those involved in the management of a programme or act as an informed member of a Programme office team, business change team or project delivery team working within an environment supporting MSP. The foundation qualification is also a pre-requisite for the practitioner certification.

Foundation Exam Format (paper)

  • Multiple choice
  • 75 questions per paper with 1 mark available per question
  • 5 questions to be trial and not counted in scores
  • 35 marks required to pass (out of 70 available) - 50%
  • 60 minutes duration
  • Closed book.

The purpose of the practitioner level is to confirm you have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the MSP guidance to act as an informed member of a programme management team. This level is also required for programme management professionals progressing toward the advanced practitioner certification, and those aspiring to become programme management professionals in the future.

Practitioner Exam Format (paper)

  • Objective testing
  • 8 questions per paper
  • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) - 50%
  • Two-and-a-half hours duration
  • Open-book (only the MSP Guide is allowed).

 

Please note that there is preparatory work required prior to the course and homework each evening of the course.

While there are no official pre-requisites to sit this course, it is recommended that a delegates needs to have a sound understanding of project management and a basic understanding of business change.

This course prepares you for the MSP Re-registration examination to be taken within five years of passing your practitioner exam to maintain Registered Practitioner status. Please note that there is preparatory work required prior to this course and evening homework during the course. Attendance includes a day during the foundation course eg. the second day, then the Practitioner portion (last two days) of the course. Please note that the current MSP manual is not included as part of this course as we presume you have it from your previous training.  If not, you are welcome to purchase this when registering.

An overall score of 15 out of a possible 30 is required to pass. The re-registration exam is one hour 15 minutes long, and it is an open-book exam, only the MSP manual is allowed.
