This course provides delegates with an in-depth view of the M_o_R principles, approach, processes, perspectives and techniques used for identifying, assessing, planning for and managing risks. It uses a mixture of theoretical introductions with real world applications in individual and group work to explain the concepts. The practitioner focuses on scenario based application. There are two exams: Foundation and Practitioner.

Foundation Qualification
The purpose of the Foundation qualification is to confirm that a candidate is able to
demonstrate a knowledge and comprehension of the four elements of the M_o_R framework:

  • Principles
  • Approach
  • Processes
  • Embedding and reviewing

and how they support corporate governance. The Foundation qualification is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner qualification.

Practitioner Qualification
The purpose of the Practitioner qualification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor M_o_R in a scenario situation.

Individuals should be able to demonstrate Foundation competencies and, with suitable direction, should be able to start applying the M_o_R framework to a particular organisational perspective, but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations.

Their individual risk management expertise, complexity of the governance environment in place and the support provided for risk management in their work environment will all be factors that affect what the Practitioner can achieve.

The course includes the accredited Foundation and Practitioner exams:

  • The Foundation exam is a 60 minute multiple choice exam - 75 questions, 35 to pass
  • The Practitioner exam is a three hour objective exam, with 4 questions, Each question is worth 20 marks, giving a maximum of 80 marks in the paper. You need to achieve a score of 50% to pass this paper.

You will leave the course with skills that help you to:

  • understand M_o_R facts, terms and concepts
  • use M_o_R to identify inappropriate application of the framework
  • apply and tailor an M_o_R implementation
  • undertake principles, approach, processes and perspectives
  • understand issues of cultural change related to M_o_R

On successful completion of this course you will be a M_o_R Registered practitioner - a 5-year certification that is globally recognised and increasingly in demand.
