MoP®

MoP® (Management of Portfolios) offers guidance on management of change projects and programmes. It provides an overview of portfolio management, including the principles, techniques and practices alongside an organisation’s ‘business as usual’ work.  This is another product from the AXELOS range. It is closely aligned to the programme and project management methodologies outlined in MSP® and PRINCE2®, but focuses on the management of the change that is delivered by formalized project and programme management, rather than the individual initiatives.

Benefits

Portfolio Management (MoP) is structured around five flexible principles within which the two cycles and the 12 portfolio  management practices exist. Unlike most methods, all portfolio management principles, cycles and practices are used at the same time albeit at varying levels of intensity, depending on the organization and  the environment in which it works.

You can choose from a public course at a central city location or a private course where our trainer comes to you, if there are several of you from your organisation who require this certification.

Course materials

You will be taught using the latest adult learning techniques, and exposed to examples from a variety of industries and perspectives.  Sample exams and pre-course reading will ensure that you are both ready for the first day’s training and the exam/s.

Exams

  • Foundation exam – closed book, objective mulitchoice examination with 50 questions in 40 minutes; 50% to pass.
  • Practitioner exam – restricted open book; objective examination with four questions in three hours; 50% to pass.

MoP Foundation Level –

The purpose of the Foundation certification is to confirm you have sufficient knowledge and understanding to work as an informed member of a Portfolio Office or in a range of portfolio management roles. The Foundation level is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner certification.

Training runs for 2 full days and includes all required materials and the official manual, the exam fee, full catering (on public courses) and an e-certificate. Options available may include our exam guarantee, templates, supporting publications, and a hard copy certificate. Please note that there is preparatory work required prior to this course and evening homework during the course.

MoP Practitioner Level –

The purpose of the Practitioner certification is to confirm you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor the MoP guidance and to analyse portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation to a scenario situation. You should, with suitable support, be able to advise on the implementation of appropriate practices and techniques, and apply the method to a live portfolio, but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Your individual expertise, the complexity of the portfolio, and the support provided will also influence the impact the Practitioner can achieve.

Training runs for 2 full days and includes all support material, the exam fee, full catering (on public courses) and e-certificate. Please note that it is presumed that you have your official manual from your foundation training; you are welcome to purchase this if not. Options available may include our exam guarantee, templates, supporting publications, and a hard copy certificate. Please note that there is preparatory work required prior to this course and evening homework during the course.
